In Memoriam April 2018

When we published our last bulletin article, we honored two of our fallen members, Peter Kippes Sr. and Joan Monaghen.  It is with great sadness that we report that another Brother Knight, Harold “Skip” Riley, went home to meet Our Lord after we had submitted our article for publication.

He was a Charter Member of the Mary’s Millennium Knights of Columbus Council #12801 at St. John the Evangelist Church in Streamwood, IL, where he served as an usher for many years. He became a 4th Degree Knight of Assembly 2330.

It was a cold, windy, and wintery day Sunday April 15th as the Knights, Ladies, and families of our fallen Brother Knights, Peter Kippes Sr. and Harold “Skip” Riley, gathered after the 9:00 AM mass, as we dedicated their stones in our Memorial Garden.   Ladies Auxiliary member Joan Monaghen’s stone will be dedicated on April 29th, since her family was unable to attend this ceremony.

Father Nate blessed the new stones which were added to our Memorial Garden by Wally Niemczyk, who is the creator and caretaker of this gorgeous setting for prayer and reflection.  We encourage all members to visit the garden and to keep these members and their families in your daily prayers.

Thank you to the families and friends of our fallen Brother Knights and Ladies Auxiliary members, for joining the current members for these special dedication ceremonies.  May all who visit this memorial garden find peace and comfort.
