Happy Thanksgiving

News Comments Off on Happy Thanksgiving

As Thanksgiving approaches, we look back at what all the members have done to help so many in our community with prayers, service hours, and gifts. In particular we remember our fallen Knights and recognize their contributions and those of their wives.

We all have much to be thankful for. This weekend we kick off a tradition here at St. John’s – the Annual Giving Tree. To participate in this drive, select one or more red/blue age tags from the tree, purchase an appropriate gift ($10 – $15 value) and return it to church by December 16. Some tags will not have an age – you fill in the age after you purchase the gift.

The gifts should be UNWRAPPED and placed in a gift bag. The Knights and Ladies, in conjunction with our church and community partner organizations, will distribute the gifts to needy children and seniors in our community through the help of Hanover Township. Mary’s Millennium Council #12801, with your help, donated more than 2,000 gifts last Christmas.

St. John’s is a warm and giving parish community. Thank you all for your ongoing support of our various programs. May you have a Holy and Happy Thanksgiving Day. December 3rd is #GivingTuesday – we are sponsoring a ”Coats for Kids Drive” online at https://donate/kofccharities.org/kofc12801

Here is Our Thanksgiving Prayer:

O God, when I have food, help me to remember the hungry;

When I have work, help me to remember the job-less;

When I have a home, help me to remember those who have no home at all;

When I am without pain, help me to remember those who suffer;

When I have my faith and trust in God,

help me to remember those who have put God aside in their lives.

When I am surrounded by my family and friends, help me to remember those

who are alone in the world and have no one to turn to.

Let us be aware that all gifts come from you my God, and may

we serve Your heavenly will in everything we do.

May You Have A Holy And Happy Thanksgiving
