Merry Christmas 2019

As 2019 draws to a close, we reflect on the memorable moments from the year. The Knights provided Honor Guards on several occasions including Corpus Christi Sunday, confirmation and funerals. The highlight of the year was the successful completion of the Sixth Annual Knights Challenge 5k Run / Walk / Kids Dash which benefited Hanover Township Food Pantry. Together with our sponsors, St. John’s Parish, the local community and the Ladies Auxiliary, we were able to help “Feed His Sheep” with the proceeds from that event.

Our Knights and Ladies have plenty to be proud about, as our accomplishments were recognized this year once again. Mary’s Millennium Council & Ladies Auxiliary were recognized by Hanover Township. At the 121st Illinois State Convention of the Knights of Columbus, Lady of the Year for the State of Illinois was awarded to our very own Monica ONeil.

The Ladies Scrapbook received first place award and the Knights scrapbook was also awarded first place in their respective categories. These scrapbooks tell the story of our accomplishments and preserve those memories for future members’ inspiration to continue in our footsteps carrying out the vision of our founder, Father Michael McGivney.

Behind those awards were many hours of service. The Knights and Ladies served at many parish events including the annual St. Joseph’s Table, Lenten Suppers, several receptions, as well as their own pancake breakfast and bake sales. Our organizations provided financial support for vocations, parish ministries, and community programs. Most importantly, we were united in prayer and service to God throughout the year including holy hours of prayer, corporate masses, and memorial services for our deceased members. We will provide a more detailed report in upcoming weeks after data is gathered.

We wish you a Blessed Christmas and Happy New Year. Thank you for all your support during 2019.
