An Invitation from

Mary’s Millennium Council

The  Knights of Columbus provide a strong witness to the Christian way of life and the values associated with being Christ-like. Indeed we stand as a beacon to these values in an otherwise secular society of materialism. Last year, we collectively donated more than $158 million to charitable endeavors and committed over 70 million man-hours to charity. Illinois alone donated $4.9 million and 2.1 million hours in charitable efforts.

Would you like the opportunity to share a fraternal brotherhood with men of similar values?

Tuesday, October 30, 2012, we are having an information meeting in the Parish Center starting at 7 PM.   The evening will start with a meet and greet and will be followed by a presentation and refreshments.  You’ll have the opportunity to speak with several members to learn more about our fraternal brotherhood.   Please join us to learn about how you could be a part of our organization.

Cardinal George's BlessingDear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

Congratulations and best wishes as you celebrate the 50th anniversary of Saint John the Evangelist Parish, a vital Catholic presence in the northwest suburbs and in the Archdiocese of Chicago.

Anniversaries are a time for remembering and giving thanks for the many people who have built a tradition of faith, love and worship in your parish.  As you look to the future of Saint John the Evangelist, may the Lord fill your hears with His love as you witness the Gospel of Jesus in service to one another.

I am deeply grateful to all who have helped to make the parish of Saint John the Evangelist the vibrant and welcoming community that it is today.  Thank you for all of your continuing service to the Church, especially in your school’s programs and many other ministries.  In particular, I would like to thank your pastor, Father Theodore Schmitt; your pastor emeritus, Father William Moriarity; and your associate pastor, Father Piotr Gnoinski; and all of the priests of the Archdiocese of Chicago who have served at Saint John the Evangelist over the past fifty years.  I also thank the Sisters of St. Joseph who taught at Saint John the Evangelist School for many years and the other women religious who have served in the parish.  May the witness and ministry of these men and women inspire many more Catholics to serve the Church in ordained priesthood and consecrated life.

Francis Cardinal Gerorge
As you commemorate this milestone, each of you will be remembered in my prayers in a special way; please keep me and the needs of the Archdiocese of Chicago in yours. God bless you.

Sincerely yours in Christ,

Francis Cardinal George, O.M.I
